Federal Work-Study program (FWS) is a federally funded employment program that enables you to work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) on campus and/or remotely (off campus)! FWS funds are 有限的 and offered on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

To be eligible for the FWS program, a student must:
- Be enrolled at least ½ time
- 满足 Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)标准
- Have financial need, based on their completed financial aid file.
- 请注意: International students are not eligible for the 联邦工作研究 program.
- The FWS amount offered is the maximum amount a student can earn during the academic year; however it does not guarantee job placement.
- Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and be enrolled at least half time (6 units) during the Fall/Spring and/or Summer 术语.
- If a FWS student drops below 6 units or withdraws completely from school, they must stop working immediately and notify their employer and the 财政援助办事处.
How do I apply for 联邦工作研究?
- First step is to apply for financial aid by completing your FAFSA应用程序 早期. Priority awarding is provided to students who apply by March 2nd each year.
- The FAFSA应用程序 asks students if they are interested in 联邦工作研究. 选择“是”.
Not all applicants are awarded FWS Funds, this is a federal program and funding is 有限的.
What happens after I indicate interest in my FAFSA?

If you are interested in participating and would like to be considered for the Federal Work-Study program, please send an email request, from your zonemail, with your student ID # (W10_____) to Ariel Nelson (she/her) at anelson@myitown.com. Please put “FWS Request” in the subject line of the email.

We will review your request and reply as soon as possible. Not all applicants are 提供FWS基金. Students who appear eligible for FWS Program will receive the Student Assistant Application, via zonemail to complete and return via zonemail.

When a department is interested in hiring a FWS Student, they will review the applications and contact students to set up an interview. After the FWS applicant is selected, a Student 就业 Requisition (hiring packet) will be provided. 每一个潜在的 FWS student must complete their portion of the hiring packet and submit it back to the hiring department and get a TB test for employment purposes. 请注意: Some student positions may require fingerprinting.
- After student submits hiring packet back to the department, the application will then 被送到 anelson@myitown.com for completion before being sent to HR.
A student is NOT approved to work before a decision has been made by Human Resource, which will be communicated back to the respective hiring department.

Once the hiring process is completed, the hiring department will contact the student to inform them of the employment start date.
Reminder: In order for students to remain in the FWS program, they must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and be enrolled at least 1/2 time. 重新考虑 for FWS the following school year, students re-apply for work study on the FAFSA between October 1st and March 2nd.
